Ausplay Playscapes have created an inner-city sanctuary for the children of Brisbane, with four levels of play now open at Edge Early Learning South Brisbane!

With cubbies and windows, tunnels and bridges children are given inspiration for imaginative play and storytelling while natural log forts and climbing walls cater to the risky and adventurous. Bespoke water and sand play elements provide for open ended, messy play, while rolling hills of grass let children be free to run and jump to their hearts content.

Ausplay is proud to have designed and constructed the beautiful, nature inspired playscapes for this state-of-the-art centre, and have succeeded in the aim of creating quality, fun and flexible spaces that engage and inspire.

Ausplay Playscapes was brought into the project team of The Grove Early Learning to help transform an existing office building into a beautiful play and learning space. 

With the playscape split over two levels, with both internal and external play areas,  Ausplay was able to create a variety of play experiences throughout. 

The upper floor is home to the nursery and Toddler rooms, with the playscape designed specifically for these age groups.  Mounded landforms, small slides and sand pits were all included, as well as central cubby structure for both physical development and imaginative play. 

On the ground floor, the indoor spaces expand out into the larger yard, with a feature water play zone, including vertical water jets, misting logs and creekbed, becoming a hub of activity.  The Triangular play fort has become an iconic element for the centre, with its custom designed butterfly sculptures visible from the neighbouring streets. 

Ausplay Playscapes is proud to have been part of the transformation of an existing commercial building into beautiful outdoor playscape and centre for Play & Learn Early Learning The Gap. 

With the rolling hills, garden beds and creekbed and natural textures, children can explore and play without knowing that the entire play space is a large podium, perched over a carpark.   

The playscape includes specially designed zones to support the Centres programs, such a large sustainability garden zone with raised garden beds and blackboard and a water pump with creekbed for running STEM programs. 

A large play fort, climbing wall and swings provide opportunities for adventurous and risky play, while still complying with Australian Playground Standards. 

 With views overlooking the Brisbane River, Edge Early Learning is in the heart of inner city Brisbane. 

 The centre has 3 levels of playspace, including an open rooftop space, that were designed and constructed by Ausplay Playscapes. 

 With many constraints to consider, such as podium drainage, weight loadings and access, Ausplay drew on the skill and experience of our team to develop a design that met all the necessary requirements, while retaining play value and beauty. 

 With play spaces predominantly internal, it was important to incorporate as many natural elements and textures as possible.  Beautiful log carvings, stone waterplay areas and mounded landforms combine to create a warm and inviting environment.
